El libélula roja o dardo rubicundo ( Sympetrum sanguineum ) es un europeas especies de libélula de la familia Libellulidae. El dardo rojo alcanza una envergadura de hasta 6 cm. La cabeza, el tórax y el abdomen del macho son vivos rojo, mientras que la hembra es ligeramente más pequeño, y es de un color amarillo dorado con manchas negras. El abdomen se ensancha para el último tercio de su longitud y muestra una sección pellizcado marcada donde se une el tórax. Las piernas todo-negras de la perca rubicunda distinguen de la otra manera muy similar darter común ( Sympetrum striolatum ) y darter vagabundo ( Sympetrum vulgatum ), ambos de los cuales muestran rayas amarillas en sus piernas. The ruddy darter (Sympetrum sanguineum) is a European species of dragonfly of the family Libellulidae. The ruddy darter attains a wingspan of up to 6 cm. The head, thorax and abdomen of the male are vivid red, while the female is slightly smaller, and is a golden-yellow colour with black markings. The abdomen widens for the final third of its length and shows a marked pinched section where it joins the thorax. The all-black legs of the ruddy darter distinguish it from the otherwise very similar common darter (Sympetrum striolatum) and vagrant darter (Sympetrum vulgatum), both of which show yellow stripes on their legs.
